Highlands and Islands Enterprise Network – Corporate Environmental Management System
Project Manager : Professor Stephen Tinsley
Researcher : Dr Sarah-Anne Munoz , Heather George
Aims and objectives
To assist the Headquarters of the Highlands and Islands Network and its associated Local Enterprise Companies, including Careers Scotland offices to an internationally recognised environmental standard.
The principal method is to follow the implementation scheme of BS8555, a new British Standard that breaks down the process of implementing a formal environmental management system into five steps. The sixth step is to seek formal accreditation to ISO14001 or the EU standard EMAS
The project involves SDRC assisting a dedicated environmental working group and advising on the best route to certification. It includes undertaking audits alongside HIE Network staff, assisting with the writing of manuals, preparing forms and operating and management procedures for adoption by HIE Network. SDRC facilitates the HIE Network environmental working group through the whole implementation process and will provide awareness and consultation events for LEC and Careers Scotland offices
Implementation schedule : Implementation schedule : Phase One and Phase two completed; Phase Three 70% complete and Phase Four 60% complete
