Doctorate of Business Administration programmes:

The Doctorate of Business Administration - Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability has the same academic standing as a PhD.  It is similarly a research based qualification. Participants can therefore expect a challenging experience conducted in a stimulating atmosphere of intellectual and academic debate.

Aims
The aims of the DBA – Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability are as follows:

To help participants explore the relationship between theory and practice; between understanding the world and changing it.
To help participants develop their judgement, foresight and problem analysis by applying theoretical and forensic skills to the research material derived from their investigations
To help participants develop as reflective practitioners who have the intellectual and personal adaptability to be able to deal with organisational change and ambiguity.
To develop communication skills which enable participants to communicate effectively with both the academic and business communities and to act as interpreters between the two
To help participants to design and implement a research project at the boundaries of knowledge in their professional and managerial fields.

The main elements and contextual features of this postgraduate degree programme are as follows:

Based in Horizon Scotland, Forres, Scotland – www.horizon-scotland.com. This programme is for a professional doctorate in business and management known as the DBA, Doctor in Business Administration - Corporate Social Responsibility and  Sustainability. The course is aimed at practising Managers and Professionals who already have a MBA or other appropriate masters in a management related subject. It is a three/four year part time course. Students undertake a programme of research supported by taught workshops, supervisory teams and learning sets. The research is done in 6 stages ( each of which culminates with a written document) divided into 5 modules. The taught modules are held at Horizon Scotland, and comprise 2 x 2 day teaching blocks, and 3 x 4 day teaching blocks spread over the three year period.
