Exploring through research, communicating through sharing knowledge
Sustainable Development Research Centre (SDRC) hold a number of events each year throughout the UK. The events are designed to reflect the research work that is on going, look at changes in legislation and stimulate debate on topics that affect both businesses and communities. It is intended that each event will go beyond the talk to become a forum for influencing policy and strategy at local, national and international levels.
Carbon Off-setting of SDRC Events
SDRC are intending to offset the CO2 generated by the events held throughout this year. The use of coal, oil and natural gas, deforestation and change in land use has resulted in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions that greatly exceed the amount that the biosphere can naturally absorb. Travel to and from events, energy use during the event and transportation of food all lead to emissions of CO2. It is possible to offset these emissions by investing in a sustainable project that counteracts the emissions or removes CO2 from the atmosphere. Such projects include renewable energy, energy efficiency and reforestation initiatives. Most projects have social and economic gains as well .
